FOLKESTONE BOOK FESTIVAL 2023

FOLKESTONE BOOK FESTIVAL 2023

What a brilliant event from the organisation to the talks it was one of the best! The new curators Jen Thatcher and James Harkin did an outstanding job with many interesting authors and events this year. I attended some of the talks including Frances Tophill from Gardeners World which was a highlight for me as gardening is one of my passions. I bought one of her books about rewilding your garden, which is good and available on Amazon. Hopefully, Frances will be able to do a talk at my writing group next year about writing a gardening book. One of…

FIREWORK WORDS

FIREWORK WORDS

I can’t say I enjoy fireworks as they seem so much louder now than they used to be, sparklers used to be my favourite as a child. I feel there should only be group events as they can be so unpredictable in the wrong hands. So, here we have something different for fireworks night, a picture….. Make a list of ALL the words you can think of to describe this photo. Who will think of the most words, unusual words, or longest words and let me know? Happy & Safe November the 5th

FLOWERS AND BOOKS

FLOWERS AND BOOKS

If friends were flowers I would always pick you. What a brilliant present idea for a gardener! You could use real or an artificial plant then maybe packets of seeds in their favourite colour. I love those old watering cans, I saw one in my mum’s garden so will see if I can sand it down and paint it then put a pretty plant in it to stand by the door.       Got the pic from Swyzee’s books Something for the children to do so you can keep a watch on how much they are reading, they could…

NATIONAL WRITING DAY

NATIONAL WRITING DAY

21st JUNE 2023 Do you write every day? I am trying to get back into the habit of doing this and to be honest I actually feel better when I do as I feel like I am accomplishing something and getting to finish what I am working on. This site has some ideas https://firststory.org.uk/writeday/ You don’t have to be writing a story or book, it can be just what you are happy about or even doing a diary so you can look back in years to come and see what you were doing and how you were feeling then. I have…

CAMP NANOWRIMO

CAMP NANOWRIMO

Did you know this was a ‘thing’? I have not heard of it before but I do think it makes sense to have something like this during the warmer months as many writers do take some time off work to complete their writing or even to do some writing when they have some time to themselves. I think the main objective for writers is to just find the time to write and when you have families and a job it gets tough to find some ‘me’ time or should I say ‘writing time’ You can have a writing time whenever…
