ALONE IN THE DARK BY JOANNE RYAN – BOOK REVIEW

PUBLISHED BY BOLDWOOD BOOKS ON THE 19th AUGUST 2024

This was really good, it keeps you guessing about who the bad guys are, and things change, so you keep changing your mind as to whether they are good or bad! The main charecter Abi, is a really bad overthinker, which made me really feel for her. Great writing as it keeps you on track and impatient to get to the next chapter. I have not read any from this author, but I will keep a lookout, as I think this was a good read. I see she lives in my area, so it seems strange that I’ve not heard of her before.

Joanne Ryan writes bestselling psychological thrillers about the secrets we keep and the lies we tell the people closest to us. Her stories explore the hidden tensions beneath ordinary lives, where one decision can change everything.

Her novels, including The Sister-in-Law, The Perfect Weekend, and The Lodger, feature emotionally complex women, unsettling twists, and gripping suspense that keep readers turning pages late into the night.

Set in contemporary Britain, Joanne’s dark, addictive thrillers will appeal to fans of domestic noir and readers of Daniel Hurst, Lisa Jewell, and Freida McFadden. Her writing delves into themes of love, guilt, and betrayal — and the devastating consequences of secrets exposed.

Joanne is based in the south of England and also writes lighter, feel-good fiction under the pen name Marina Johnson.
