CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY

ROYAL HIPPODROME THEATRE, EASTBOURNE

I had a super day yesterday. We took Enzo to Eastbourne, as he loves watching shows. We watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I have never been to this theatre, so it was nice to go somewhere new, even though it is very old, but what a lovely theatre! They do tours on a Wednesday throughout the year for £5

We all had a great time, the show was superb with some great actors.

Following on from their hugely successful run of ‘Kinky Boots’, EODS are proud to announce they will be presenting the musical ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre in April 2025.

With Gareth Brighton as Director, Naomi Wareham as Choreographer and Oscar Smith as Musical Director, the show is based on the famous novel by Roald Dahl. The musical of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features an original score composed by Mark Shaiman, with lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) and a book by David Greig. The score also pays homage to the Leslie Bricusse/Anthony Newley score from the 1971 film, with songs from the motion picture including ‘Candy Man’, ‘I’ve Got a Golden Ticket’, ‘Oompa Loompa Song’ and ‘Pure Imagination’.

Willy Wonka is opening up the gates to his mysterious factory…but only to a special few!

Charlie Bucket, an imaginative boy with a knack for making something out of nothing, dreams of acquiring a lucky golden ticket to take a tour of Wonka’s chocolate factory and can’t believe his luck when he eventually wins!

Fellow contest winners include: Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregard and Mike Teevee, none of whom realise what they are getting themselves into, as they each learn lessons of selfishness and greed…
