I had the pleasure of meeting Lisa a couple of weeks ago as she was talking at The Sandgate Literary Festival. It was such a pleasant afternoon. What a lovely lady she is. So down to earth, no wonder she writes such great books. I bought Breaking the Dark, and I loved it. Very different to her normal style of writing, as she collaborated with Marvel for this one, apparently, this story took the longest to write! It definitely grips you and keeps you reading. Set in America and England, but I really liked the way the book flowed, even though it spans over two countries and times. This book goes straight into my top five of the year.
I have also read The She Was Gone, which is another brilliant story that I recommend.
Lisa definitely escaped my radar as she has had a holiday home in Sandgate for five years…..How did I not know this? I could have asked her to talk at the Write by the Sea writing group I used to run. She has gone on to be one of my top authors, considering she does not plan anything, not even chapter titles. Lisa sits down at the kitchen table or on her bed and just writes! I find this amazing as she always writes best-selling books that are printed all over the world.
