BOOKS THAT STAND OUT

BOOKS THAT STAND OUT

I find that the pictures on books really stand out to me, so that is what makes me pick a book up, I then read the blurb on the back and either buy it or put it back. Sometimes there are things written on the front of the book or in an advertisement that make me look further.   This one particularly caught my eye as I run a writing group and have always wanted to run a retreat or even go on one and just write, especially in the sunshine. This sounds ideal and I do like a mystery,…

THE LIFE SHE WANTS BY J.M.HEWITT – BOOK REVIEW

THE LIFE SHE WANTS BY J.M.HEWITT – BOOK REVIEW

One of the best books I have read and is in my top five of this year. Plus my best book of the month! Paula worries that her marriage to Tommy is hanging by a thread. She loves how safe her husband makes her feel, but lately, it seems like he’s pulling away from her, and he keeps avoiding a much-needed conversation about finally having children. When Tommy suggests a cruise getaway for the two of them, Paula is thrilled. He’s fighting for this marriage, and he’s even promised that they will talk about growing their family. It’s Paula’s dream…

MY BOOK OF THE YEAR 2022

MY BOOK OF THE YEAR 2022

MY BOOK OF THE YEAR FOR 2022 This book made me laugh out loud, relatable if you have tried online dating. Well written so that once you start you cannot put this book down, I loved it. Please read my review at https://karensworld.uk/breakfast-at-stephanies-by-beth-thomas-book-review Available on Amazon here. 44 BOOKS READ IN 2022 A very mixed year for me, but I must have done more as I only read 44 books which is down on the last couple of years. More holidays and outings with friends were highlights and such fun, it looks like there will be more next year as…

2022

2022

Happy New Year to you and yours. GOODREADS I have the app for Goodreads on my iPad, it’s very easy to use and I find it the best way to keep account of what books I read each year. Last year my challenge or aim was to read 70 books but I’m afraid I didn’t come close to that as I only read 56 books during 2021. I am not sure what happened last year, maybe it was because I tried too hard to finish a book when I really was not getting into it at all. Why waste time…

MY WRITING GROUP IN FOLKESTONE, KENT

MY WRITING GROUP IN FOLKESTONE, KENT

WRITE BY THE SEA The writing group that I run here in Folkestone is doing so well, we have such a great group of people that all share their knowledge. We have a group meeting once a month on a Thursday evening where we have a chat about any book news that I have, we then discuss the exercise that we have completed which involves some sharing their work, or asking questions. I like to keep it very informal so as not to put people off from sharing. If any members want to ask questions or share some of their…

SUNNY SEPTEMBER

SUNNY SEPTEMBER

As August was a washout it was a pleasant surprise that the sun has been shining this month, long may it continue but the nasty weatherman keeps saying it is going to rain next week!  I always think it is good when we have a bit of sun during September/October as it feels like winter will be a shorter season. THE FOUNTAINS We have the fountains in Folkestone so to make the most of the sunshine we took the children down there after school, they could really play for hours running in and out and collecting the water. Even Enzo…
