The Coterie Bar, Dining & Garden
There is nothing better than going out for a Sunday lunch. You can sit back, enjoy a glass of wine and relax, which is exactly what I did last Sunday. I went to The Coterie bar in Folkestone. Carly, the owner, has definitely put her stamp on it. It is friendly, warm, and has a great ambience, in fact, just like you are sitting at home. I love the homely touches like the book swap, games to play, you cannot beat a game of cards when it’s raining and cold outside.
- Cosy sofa to relax.
- Books that you can take home.
- Games to play.
- Art from local artists.
- Simple but elegant.
- Cute salt & pepper.
It was a fixed menu on Sunday, which changes weekly; vegetarian and gluten-free options are available with prebooking.

The soup was rich and creamy with warm bread! The wine was a delicious Shiraz that went well with the meal.
The main course of braised beef, which was tender and tasted delicious in the rich gravy. Parmesan roast potatoes, which I had never thought of doing myself, were to die for. Plus, the cheese sauce with them was a beautiful combination, well done to the chef, Eddie.
I was so full that I couldn’t fit in a dessert, so I just had a coffee as I waited for Kara. I would definitely recommend this bar as everything about it is delightful. It is also a place that you can go on your own and not be looked at like some pubs, I think it will be my place to go for a quiet drink. I am looking forward to the summer to enjoy their sunny garden for a cheeky cider. Well done, Carly, for making this such a glorious place to go in Folkestone.
