It takes about two hours to get to Winchester from Folkestone depending on the traffic but as we went on a Sunday the roads were pretty clear. I had never been to Winchester, I was amazed at so many old buildings, the Cathedral was lovely with such great stained glass windows. I was thrilled to see Jane Austin’s grave on the floor of the Cathedral. The High Street is one of the longest I have seen and it was great to see all the individual shops open and doing well. What a nostalgic trip this was, from the chug chug noise swaying to the seats, all material like they used to be and then the door with the drop-down window, what a massive health and safety issue that was back in the day. The views of the Autumn colours from the trees were amazing and considering it was steam power it went faster than I was expecting. Stopping at some stations that looked like they lived in the past. Definitely a trip worth taking if you are in Yorkshire.
