I was so pleased to see the Lily of the Valley was at last growing in my garden. I have been trying for years to grow this; it reminds me of my nan and grandad’s house, as they had it growing outside the back door. The smell in the mornings was lovely when you opened the door. I have tried growing it in big pots, small pots, in the garden, and fed it regularly, but never had any luck. Then I planted some down the back where the ground is awful, not a lot of nice dirt, and now they are growing and spreading!
Everything appears to be flowering early this year, but it makes the garden look lovely with all the colour. There are over 20 buds on the Peony, so they are going to look super. I hope I don’t miss them when I go on holiday next month.
I took these photos a couple of weeks ago, so it looks very different just in that amount of time. My Olive tree must be a good 10 feet tall now, with the cherry tree not far behind it. Enzo’s Sunflower seeds and Poppies are getting stronger every day and a lot taller. I will plant them out after my holiday so I can keep an eye on them.
The frogs have not come back this year, which is a shame. The grandchildren won’t like that. I think I will buy a Hosta and see if that will tempt them back, as there are sure to be a lot of snails and slugs about then.
How are things growing in your garden? Have you found the flowering season to be early this year?
