AUTUMN IN THE GARDEN
I love autumn with all the different shades of colours of the leaves, particularly my grape vine with the greens, reds and brown leaves. We still have sunny days here and it’s lovely to get the last of the heat on your skin, it feels like it warms my bones up. The late flowering lilies are looking super this year, I will get some more of them so I can have a pot full of them next year. Autumn has arrived here in Uk but still very mild, the leaves are collecting on the ground and the children have had fun collecting the conkers that have fallen. I love that the cooking, soaking and ingenious ways of making the conkers harder for the games are still an active pastime for the children, this is one that is definitely passed down the generations. What a super display idea for a Harvest Festival, there certainly are many varied leaves about for children of all ages to find. What a glorious setting for a Sunday lunch sitting in the sunshine, this takes me back to my childhood as we often used to come here as Nan and Grandad loved it and dreamt of having one of the cabin boats themselves. At The Malta, they have increased the seating and staff so even though it was very busy we got a nice table and within 30 minutes we had ordered and were eating our lunch. SPADEWORK GARDEN CENTRE A friend told us about this garden centre which we had never heard of, so we took a trip out in the sunshine and were so glad we did. This is a charity with not only plants but produce and a cafe, it really is lovely, so much choice. We have banned ourselves from any more garden centres though!
