As we head toward summer it’s lovely to see the garden beginning to get a bit of colour in it, I keep buying plants so I’m really hoping for a brilliant display and have enough to cut for indoors this year. It’s great having the bank holidays and we get an extra one this year, courtesy of the queen and so many events on it is hard to know what to go to, although if it rains I won’t be going anywhere. BIRCHINGTON LITERARY FESTIVAL

    Birchington has joined the literary buzz around the southeast with its first festival. Today was day one, the sun was shining, there was cake, interesting authors and plenty of people to listen. It made for an interesting day, I attended Carol Salters creative writing workshop where the topic was all about your characters and bringing them to life. The weather was glorious for the whole Easter weekend so people were out and about in Kent, I even saw some people having a swim in the sea. Whatever you did, I hope you had a really good time, it was nice to catch up with family and enjoy the children hunting for eggs. HURRY UP SUMMER

We had a false start a couple of weeks ago so I got all the cushions out and bought myself a garden rug, bargain at £9.99 from Home Bargains, I might get one for the camper as well. The flowers are also coming along so I hope this patch of cold weather does not kill them. It was my grandson’s 21st last month and I know the weather can be unpredictable about this time of year.
