THE BELL, IVYCHURCH, ROMNEY MARSH, KENT

Last week four of the ladies that lunch went out for Sylvie’s birthday, the rule of six still applies in the UK at the moment, due to change on the 21st June but we will wait and see if that happens.

I chose this pub to go to as it is the closest one to Sylvie’s house plus my grandaughter works there weekend evenings. This is one of those pubs that you just wish was your local and on your own doorstep, the owners are fantastic, the service superb and the food excellent.

We sat in the garden as the sun has, at last, come out to shine down on us. Tables are spaced out, all covid rules applied. There was even a gentleman playing the accordion outside and with views of the church, the setting is typical English countryside at its best. Just about everything is home-cooked and very delicious.

We all had the Eton mess for dessert, I thought Sylvie was going to lick it! LOL

A good three hours later, I think they were pleased to see us leave, Jade told me to be on my best behavior so apart from the laughing, I think we did it.

It was so good to be out with friends swapping gossip and all our news and problems that we have all encountered over the last fifteen months since we have all been together. Roll on July and hopefully, the full nine of us can all get together for lunch again. If this pub gets a round table for inside I can see this becoming our favorite destination every month.

Hope your birthday was wonderful Sylvie and cheers to all, especially the staff at The Bell.
