WORLD BOOK DAY IN FOLKESTONE, KENT

World Book Day. If I were a child again, I would be so pleased to get a new book. I used to read so many of my books, plus I went to the library every Saturday afternoon with Grandad. They got to know me so well that they asked me to help on a Saturday, so I would put the returned books away. The best bit was stamping the books out and looking for a book or author through the small files. I made my own library at home with my books. I would not let them get rid of any, so they had a huge trunk in the loft that all my books went in.

Folkestone is blessed with its own publishing company now, started by Jo Bavington-Jones. It’s called Hut22. Jo also has a couple of books out soon; I am looking forward to reading them.

We also have the best book cafe, called Steep Street, down the Old High Street. I wonder if anyone has ever counted how many books they have on all the shelves throughout the cafe.

Happy world book day, have you got yourself a new book?
