Here we have a guest post from my friend the very funny comedian Jo Phaure.
Folkestone Entrepreneur and experienced comic Jo Phaure will be MC,ing at the Louis Armstrong in Dover on 3rd October 7pm and performing at Funny Folk, in Folkelore at Folkestone on the 25th October.
Here she brings us her round up of some of the most diverse and unusual acts at this year’s Faversham Fringe Festival.
The Faversham Fringe festival starts on Friday and runs till the 27 October. It’s a fantastic opportunity to see comedy, theatre & culture at a brilliant price, with tickets starting at just £6, whatever you’re into, why not try something a little different? With over 70 shows spread over four weeks, it can be a little overwhelming to decide just what not to miss. So here I am to take away the strain of curating your own cultural smorgasbord with a round up of some of the weirdest and most wonderful offerings.
1. Hot Rod the album launch is a fantastic strong starter for the festival, on
Friday 4th October 8.30 pm at the Arden Theatre Faversham. Hot Rod is a drag king persona of local comedian, Ruth Stone. They will make you laugh till you can’t breathe, an affectionate pastiche of masculinity, music and mainstream culture. Men and women alike are drawn into Hot Rod’s sexy aura! After a string of hits across Germany, Hot Rod is back on home turf to launch his album… and win your heart! This drag show explores masculinity through stand-up and (rather filthy) original songs.
Get a ticket now! And if you miss this show but still fancy a drag king fix then you’d be well advised to book now for
Kate Smurthwaite’s Milo Standards, Penis De Milo at the Arden Theatre on 27th October at 8.30 pm.
Click for tickets.
2. Caroline Madds brings her ‘clear comic talent’ to the The Alexander Centre Mayor’s Parlour on Friday 11th October at 7 pm. Caroline Madds is Buzzin’ as she attempts to find a cure for her incurable Tinnitus, with hilarious results. Who knew they needed an explanation of Tinnitus with reference to the Spice girls? Likeable and very funny Caroline is one to watch already having been noticed on the comedy circuit. Click for tickets.
3.
13th October at 4 pm in the Alexander Centre, Jo Phaure, I hate to boast but… (full disclosure obviously this is my show and clearly not only do I think I’m funny but I’m apparently boasting about it). Ably hosted and with a whip smart set from Genevieve Pepper and featuring the outstanding and hilarious comedy songs of Neil Long this show will be a fast paced, ex rated round up of my neurosis, failings & exes. Click for tickets.
4. Adam Dorr. I adore Adam Dorr his comedy just keeps getting better, unlike his autism but you’ll join him in seeing the funny side of life from a unique perspective if you go see his show In-Adam-Quate on Friday 18th October at 7 pm in the Mayor’s Parlour. Where his autobiographical exploration of all facets of life from the perspective of the world’s most awkward man should be a charming delight just like him! Click for tickets.
5. Bexual Healing is a character comedy show where Maybe West shares anecdotes with awkward characters struggling to find love as neurodivergent women (there maybe a theme in my listing suggestions!). You can catch this quirky and endearing show at 5.30 pm on 26th October at the Sidney Room at The Alexander Centre Faversham. Click for tickets.
So that’s just a quick round up of some of the more unique and outlandish takes on comedy featuring in this year’s fringe festival in Faversham.
What will be you be seeing?
Thank you Jo, that’s a brilliant roundup for people to choose their events and book the tickets.
