ITALY DAY ONE

I am so excited to be starting our trip, everyone convened at the services 24 in Hythe at 8.20. I did feel sorry for some people as they had been travelling down to Folkestone since midnight. We then started our journey onto to Dover and the ferry. We had a bit of luck due to our welsh driver Clive and got on an earlier ferry at 10.35 and we got tickets for a free breakfast and coffee. This was very much needed as didn’t have time for tea before I left.

Heading off the ferry at Calais we started on our long journey, I don’t think we realised exactly how long it was going to take to get to Italy. I was very organised with my little trusty cool bag with a few gin & tonics.

The first day we travelled through France, Belgium, Luxembourg, arriving at our hotel in Strasbourg late in the evening. I was surprised how tired we all were considering we had just been sitting on a coach. The hotel was basic but with everything we needed and the choice for breakfast was very good. It was an early start though with breakfast at 7am as we had to all be on coach ready to leave by 8am.
