I find that the pictures on books really stand out to me, so that is what makes me pick a book up, I then read the blurb on the back and either buy it or put it back. Sometimes there are things written on the front of the book or in an advertisement that make me look further.
This one particularly caught my eye as I run a writing group and have always wanted to run a retreat or even go on one and just write, especially in the sunshine. This sounds ideal and I do like a mystery, I will pop that on my Christmas list.

This next book about travel writing caught my attention as we have been doing some exercises and talking about this in my writing group, also the fact that it is a memoir which is what I am writing at the moment.
