I have Olives growing this year!
How’s the summer going for you? “What summer,” I hear you shout from the UK. The summer sun has not really escaped from the clouds much, to everyone’s disappoint. It appears many are not happy around the world as if the sun shines it’s too hot, causing fires, the rain is too fierce, causing destruction. The weather is not only a talking point but it has filled the news the last couple of months because it has been so intense. It has made us realise how bloody lucky we were in UK last year during lockdown as the sunshine is what kept many of us going, vitamin D in abundance.
What has been your favourite moment this summer? Have you braved the colour system and travelled abroad? We are so looking forward to our family holiday next year, we have postponed it twice so far. It keeps you going when you have something so good to look forward to.
My summer has been a bit turbulent so far ranging from problems with camper, granddaughter Izzy in hospital twice, my two daughters have health issues, my son got stuck on the boat where he works for 3 months, 2 grandchildren caught covid. Not a summer I would like to repeat, one more bank holiday weekend then some are back to school on the 2nd September, which seems very early this year. What’s the betting the sun will finally shine down on us when schools re-open.
The nights are slowly getting darker so fires, candles, cozy blankets and film nights are on the way and I won’t mention the C word, who will be the first to buy a present?

Our summer has been like most summers here in this part of California. Hot (but not too hot), dry, smoky, and cars covered with ashes. The plants aren’t happy, they are tired – no rain, incessantly sunny days. But cooler weather is coming – supposed to be in the 90s this week. I have bananas growing on my banana plants hope they reach their potential before the shorter days arrive. Take care – and those are some beautiful children!!!
